Hi, I am Dr. Matt Boland, or Dr. Matt B, and these are your Emotional Minutes. I decided to make these videos because life can be overwhelming. In addition, difficult emotions and stress affect all our lives.
The Purpose of Emotional Minutes
There is a lot or information out there on psychology topics like stress, anxiety, and feeling depressed. Some of that information is good, but there is also a lot of information that is not reliable. I am setting out to make brief, easy-to-understand clips on mental health topics to bring you information on the science and theory of emotions, stress, and mental health. I will do this using information that is well supported by science and best practices.
Qualifications of Dr. Matt B
I want to take this time to introduce myself and give you my qualifications so that you know you are in good hands. I completed my Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno. Earning your doctorate in clinical psychology is our field’s equivalent of medical school for medical doctors. In fact, a lot of our study overlaps with certain aspects of medicine.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist, which required me to complete a postdoctoral fellowship. I completed a research fellowship at the University of California, School of Medicine. In addition, I did a second clinical fellowship at Health Psychology Associates, which is a large private practice working in multiple clinics in Reno, Nevada. I continued to work on research publications at the University of Nevada throughout this experience.
