It is relatively common to experience depression or low mood due to a change in the seasons. This change often comes about in Fall and Winter, when there is decreased natural light, decreased activity, and few opportunities for social gathers. This seasonal change in mood is often referred to as seasonal depression, seasonal affective disorder, or “the winter blues”. I was recently interviewed on KOLO 8 to discuss why seasonal depression occurs and ways that have been found to help your coping with seasonal depression.
